Digitalia is an independent software development studio, active since 2003. We work with a selected number of organisations on long-term relationships: nationwide management systems, large registries, data exchange flows that must always work.

Whoever analyses the project is the same person who designs it and writes the code, with no intermediaries and no handovers: faster decisions and clear responsibility for the whole life of the system.

We have designed and built nationwide management systems used by over 1,200 operators across 241 offices: registries of companies and workers, case files, construction sites, statistics, with different roles and permissions for every level of the organisation. Multi-tenant systems where each office works on its own data within a single platform and the head office keeps the overall view.

Alongside management systems we have built public portals with reserved areas, e-learning platforms integrated with administrative systems, electronic voting applications for assemblies and tools for the automatic production of documents and pre-filled forms. The starting point is always the same: the real procedures of the people who work, turned into software that simplifies them instead of imposing new ones.

We have handled migrations of nationwide databases from legacy systems to new platforms, with tens of millions of records to normalise, deduplicate and reconcile: registries of companies and people from different sources, spreadsheets filled in by hand for years, archives with inconsistent codings. The hard part is not moving the data but making it reliable, with verifiable cleansing rules and a way back if something does not add up.

On the exchange side we have integrated applications with web services of public bodies and suppliers, periodic XML and CSV flows, third-party systems queried in real time and recurring Excel imports that had to work even when the file arrived with its columns in a different order. Where it makes sense, data keeps living in the source systems and the applications read it from there, with no duplication.

We have built single sign-on systems for families of applications, with two-factor authentication and passwordless access through passkeys, rolling them out gradually in organisations with over a thousand users used to passwords alone. Security that works is security people actually use, so every choice is weighed for ease of use as well.

On the servers we manage perimeter protection with geographic filters and automatic blocking of intrusion attempts, constant updates, administrative access only through encrypted private networks, monitoring of access and logs. We have also designed blockchain notarisation systems to certify the date and integrity of documents, where proof of authenticity was a requirement of the service.

We have integrated language models into existing management systems to allow natural-language searches over complex archives, without users needing to know the data structure, and to extract structured information from incoming documents and messages. In a migration project the AI proposed the mapping between the source file columns and the new database, leaving the final check to the operator.

We have also used agent pipelines to reconcile registries from different sources, and semantic search tools over internal document bases. We work both with cloud services and with models run on premises, when data cannot leave the organisation, and every integration starts from a measurable use case, not from the fashion of the moment.

We design and maintain relational databases that have underpinned nationwide management systems for over twenty years, with schemas grown over time without losing coherence and version migrations carried out on live production systems. We have consolidated archives of tens of millions of records, brought queries that took minutes down to fractions of a second and moved critical logic into stored procedures where performance and atomicity were needed.

We have also handled comparison and alignment between databases of different systems, periodic synchronisation of reference tables such as Italian municipalities and national codings, and architectures where each organisation has its own separate archive within the same platform. The criterion does not change: data must remain correct, queryable and recoverable, ten years from now as well.

We manage the servers our applications run on: dedicated machines at European providers, virtual machines on hypervisors at the client's premises, containerised services. Installation, configuration of web servers and reverse proxies, certificates, updates and deployment to production through repeatable procedures, from code to server, with no manual steps.

We have designed incremental backup systems with restore verification, encrypted private networks linking offices and servers, monitoring and alerts to step in before a problem reaches users: over the last 12 months production services have had 99.85% availability. When an organisation entrusts us with the infrastructure as well, it has a single point of contact for everything between its browser and its data.

This site uses no cookies, embeds no third-party services (analytics, social media, remote fonts, maps) and does not profile visitors. The only information stored in the browser is your light/dark theme preference, written only when you choose it: it stays on your device, is never transmitted and is removed by clearing your browsing data.

Server logs

The server records technical access logs (IP address, date and time, requested page), necessary for the operation and security of the service. Legal basis: legitimate interest of the controller (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 14 days, unless needed to investigate a security event.

Email

Writing to info@digitaliaweb.it is optional; the data contained in your message is used only to reply, and without it we cannot do so. Legal basis: pre-contractual measures at the request of the data subject (art. 6(1)(b)) or legitimate interest in handling correspondence (art. 6(1)(f)). Retention: 12 months from the closure of the request, unless a contractual relationship begins or legal obligations apply.

Recipients

Data may be processed by the controller's hosting and email providers, appointed as data processors, and disclosed to the authorities where required by law. Hosting is located in the European Union; the email service is provided by an operator with servers also outside the European Economic Area, on the basis of the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Data is not used for profiling or automated decision-making.

Your rights

Where provided for by the GDPR, you may exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection by writing to the controller at the address above, and lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it).
